Mid Level Provider - Peds Clinic( Job Number: 00323-10926) Work Location: United States-Kansas-Wichita-Wesley Medical Center Schedule: Full-time Description Provides prima! ry care to patients by performing the duties of an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) and/or under the supervision of a Physician as a Physician Assistant (PA). Assist physician during the examination as needed. Ensures that all information is available to the physician. Accompanies physician on rounds and keeps informed of special orders concerning patient.

This includes clinical practice Collects samples from patients including blood, urine, etc. Prepares samples for analysis or shipment. Takes and records various readings such as heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, etc. Makes follow up patient appointments, follows up on patients appointments and follow up after surgical procedures.

Answers routines questions from patients, family, hospital and clinical patients, etc. Collects all laboratory reports, data and records APRN under supervision of physician or other medical personnel, administers medication to patients. Maintain! s a DEA with physician supervision. PA under direction of phys! ician administers medication to patients.

Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide efficient quality patient care. Evaluates and improves teaching and healthcare practices and recommends modifications. Provides education information to patients, family, etc. Responds to and intervenes in emergency situations such as anaphylaxis, hypoglycemia, hypotension, hemorrhage, respiratory distress, etc.

Assumes lead role to ensure policies, procedures, and physicians orders are followed. Directs and evaluates the work of some personnel that may include Clinic Clerks, Medical Assistants, and Nurses. Trains and schedules workloads of employees. Assesses and monitors patient response to procedures and treatments.

Reports patient and reaction to tests, drugs, treatments, and any significant incidents to the physician. Performs specialized testing using physician-guided protocols such as Captopril suppression, water deprivation, etc. Instructs! medical personnel in the use of highly specialized research equipment, drugs, etc. Counsels patients and family about death, sides effects of medication, therapy, etc.

Participates in and contributes to research activities that are related to the area of specialization in which they are involved. Participates in conferences pertaining to the research area. Establishes diagnoses. Evaluates collected patient data and collaborates with the attending physician, consulting services and extended healthcare team to form a diagnosis.

Establishes the plan of care for patients by evaluating all pertinent information and collaborating with the healthcare team. Qualifications Required Registration, Licensure or Certification Current Kansas Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner by the Kansas Board of Nursing OR Physicians Assistant and Kansas State Board of Medical licensure as a Physician Assistant or the ability to obtain temporary authorization to practice within ! 60 days of hire Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, a! s specified in policy Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) verification course, as specified in policy Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support (PFCCS) verification course, as specified in policy Required Education or Experience Masters degree from an accredited Nursing Program OR Masters degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program Minimum of 2 years experience in pediatric related field Required Knowledge and Skills Expert knowledge related to pediatric assessment, pediatric developmental milestones Expert clinical skills and problem solving abilities including and understanding /applying pediatric principles at the advanced level Ability to communicate effectively in a collegial relationship with other healthcare providers Recognizes limitations an consults/refers appropriately Personal Computer Skills
