The Valve Clinic Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements the care of valve patients in the outpatient setting.
Plan, coordinate, and implement the care of valve Patients in the outpatient setting
Act as a liaison with the physicians, patients/families and ancillary departments
Assess financial, medical, and social resources of current and potential valve program patients in conjunction with the research team
Coordinate information flow among the medical, nursing, financial, and research staff appropriately
Responsible for development and implementation of teaching plan with the patient and family including medication overview, lab values, and diagnosis related information
Assist research team in the coordination of patient charts, diagnostic studies, and other applicable information per res! earch protocol
Perform direct patient care within the! scope of the nurse practice act, as it applies to the outcomes of processes in the Wesley Valve Clinic
Review and order medications appropriate to the valve patient protocol
Serve as a resource for the hospital staff regarding the care of the valve patient
Collaborate with the Public Relations department to develop the business and marketing development of the Valve Clinic
Responsible for full nursing assessment of clinic patients, including documentation of vital signs, sign and symptoms of disease process, NYHA and angina class.
Responsible for reviewing all diagnostic imaging studies,, lab values, and notify physician as appropriate for abnormal findings.
Qualifications
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
Current licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
Require! d Education or Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
Previous experience in working with Critical Care/Valve patients
Preferred Education or Experience
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
Previous experience with program coordination and development
Required Knowledge and Skills
Ability to focus concentrated effort on multiple projects and re-establish priorities as necessary
Attention to detail that ensures follow through on all initiatives implemented and projects undertaken
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Proficient at navigating current hospital imaging computer systems for Cath, Echo, EKG, MUSE, CT and Radiology
