We serve Kansas and northeast Oklahoma through our doctors, hospitals, senior villages and health services.Position Summary: Perform Diagnostic Radiology exams in a hospital or office setting according to established protocols or physicians' special instructions. Areas of skill: General Radiology including surgery, portables, ER/Trauma, Special Procedures and Mammography as assigned.

Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients and their families. Provide for the physical and psychological needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients during the procedure. Maintain accurate patient and department records. Key Responsibilities/Esse! ntial Functions: Performs radiologic procedures accurately and! efficiently.

Demonstrates competency in procedures and equipment operations. Provides age-appropriate patient care before, during and after exam. Verify type of radiology procedure following HIPAA guidelines for two identifiers prior to exam. Administers IV and oral contrast media according to procedure.

Promotes good customer relations (patient, physician, guest, etc). Possesses the initiative and ability to cross-train and perform in other modalities (CT, MRI, etc). Follows ALARA factors to minimize radiation exposure to patient. Maintains department records, reports and files as required.

Collect statistics as directed.JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education and/or Experience Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from approved college or technical school program.Behavioral Skills A personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, missio! n, vision, goals and values of Via Christi Health. Licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts in Radiologic Technology. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers offered by the American Heart Association, BLS for Healthcare Provider offered by the Military Training Network (MTN), or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer offered by the Red Cross within 30 days post date of hire.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential func! tions of this job. Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as patient calls, verbal orders, monitors, and phone calls. Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate infection or other probl! ems with a patient, or environmental issues such as smoke.Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of radiation. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Position Scope/Patient Population: Performs inpatient and outpatient exams in the Imaging Services department on a patient population that ranges from ambulatory to critical and from newborn to geriatric.
