Today, Via Christi Health is the largest provider of health care services in Kansas. We serve Kansas and northeast Oklahoma through our doctors, hospitals, senior villages and health services. Position Summary: Is responsible for all medical office secretary duties within the outpatient physician practice setting.

Greets and processes patients, maintains patient registration demographics, answer telephone for in-coming calls, schedule patient appointments, return visits, lab, and performs billing duties and facilitate overall patient flow throughout process. Develops and maintains physician information management system for scheduling and tracking. Is responsible for all business procedures and processes within the department. Key Responsib! ilities/Essential Functions: Utilizes exemplary guest relation! s while greeting/receiving all persons entering the department.

Is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all patient demographic information in database. Is responsible for all scheduling including practices appointments and other tests, surgeries or procedures ordered by the physician or provider. Receives, handles and transfers phone calls and messages within the department promptly and courteously. Prints correspondence, reports and other documents as well as dictation as required and requested.

Maintains files, records, logs and other control systems and performs related duties such as photocopying, sending faxes, typing and using PC whenever requested. Opens and routes incoming mail; distributes correspondence and other materials. Maintains patient flow during clinic sessions. Creates patient charts,posts information to records; maintains files and records and files all records accurately.

Responds to outside requests for information, usi! ng confidentiality guidelines. Works closely with billing department, follows billing process, and assists with follow-up on physician documentation/records reviews and collects co-pays, and account balances. Maintains inpatient call schedule for physicians. Competent using office software and hardware and is a software resource for nursing staff and providers.

Coordinates physician and patient satisfaction surveillance. Maintains inventory and places orders for medication, office supplies, office furnishings and equipment. May perform other duties as assigned or requested JOB REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications: Education and/or Experience High school graduate or equivalent required. Some college and appropriate background preferred.

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college of technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be familiar with medical re! cord procedures. Proficient in use of computers. Ability to handle mult! i-line telephone system.

Previous secretarial experience preferred. May be exposed to patients with communicable diseases. May work with and around ! hazardous materials including radiation, chemotherapy agents and biohaz! ards. Hazardous materials inventory and MSDS available. Wears personal protective equipment as needed.
