We serve Kansas and northeast Oklahoma through our doctors, hospitals, senior villages and health services.Position Summary: This position assists in performing delegated patient related clerical activities; including health unit coordinator functions, monitor technician, and general clerical duties. Position also assists in delegated patient care activities, including daily living and basic nursing care procedures, as well as identified competencies required in the assigned patient care unit.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: All activities are performed und! er the direction of a Registered Nurse following Medical Cente! r patient care standards. Assists patients with activities of daily living as patient needs require. Provides basic care in a timely manner respectful of the age and cultural needs of the patient.

Demonstrates concern for the overall comfort of the patient. Uses infection control techniques in all patient care activities. Explains all care procedures to the patient/family prior to performing care. Accurately documents information in the appropriate place regarding patient care and/or response to care.

Immediately communicates patients needs, condition changes, observations and responses to the RN. Demonstrates the core values in all interactions. Demonstrates commitment to ensuring patient/family satisfaction with their experience Performs unit related tasks: procurement and preparation of instruments and equipment, restocking of supplies, maintaining unit cleanliness, etc., as indicated. Cleans patient area and equipment.

Promotes positive commun! ication with patients, families, physicians, team members and management. Follows hospital, departmental, OSHA and other regulatory standards, policies, procedures, and precautions in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment Assists in triage when volume is high Observes patients in waiting room, repeats vital signs on patients waiting, assists RN with collection of specimens. Transports noncritical admits to specified unit, assists RN transporting critical patients, and assists with a variety of medical procedures as requested. Documents vital signs and patient activities.

Answers patient and family questions and reports significant concerns to nurse. Assists ER Code Blue team with procedures, specimen collection, equipment, and supplies as necessary. Performs clerical tasks which may include HUC and/or registration responsibilities. Maintains customer relations at a very positive level as evidenced by feedback from patients, visitors, p! hysicians and employees as demonstrated by the ability to interact open! ly and honestly with physicians, other health care professionals, patients and the public.

May perform other duties as assigned or requestedJOB REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications: Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED required. One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Successful completion of an EMT training program required. Must successfully pass an annual monitor/arrhythmia test.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers offered by the American Heart Association or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer offered by the Red Cross within 30 days post date of hire.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequently required to push and! pull items, such as patient beds, requiring a force of up to 75 pounds. Frequently required to carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds at waist height for distances up to 100 feet. Frequently required to lift up to 30 pounds to shoulder height. Frequently required to assist in maneuvering patients weighing 100-400 pounds and occasionally required to assist in maneuvering patients weighing over 400 pounds.

Tolerate standing and walking for up to 6 hours at a time on hard and soft surfaces. Frequently perform activities that require stooping, bending and reaching, squatting, balancing, and trunk twisting throughout the day. Constantly able to effectively communicate verbally and in written form. Occasionally required to sit in a stationary position for up to 30 minutes at one time.

Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as patient calls, verbal orders, monitors, and phone calls. Frequently able to use hands and fingers to ! perform simple and fine motor handling tasks, , handling intricate medical equipment, taking vital signs, writing, and using a keyboard. Frequently able to use different types of visual perceptions to perform activities such as moving medical equipment, evaluating patients, reading monitors and charts, and reading computer screens. Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate infection or other problems with a patient, or environmental issues such as smoke.Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate staff are to wear lead aprons when exposed to x-rays. Exposure to all patient elements including communicable diseases and body fluids. ! Understands differences and adjusts care as related to age and developm! ental level from pediatric to geriatric ranges.

Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for easy and skillful used of hands when working patients and equipment. Requires ability to communicate verbally with patients and hospital staff and form perception to observe pertinent details. Requires ability to work where activities are characterized by frequent change. If color blind, all near patient testing requiring color vision will be double checked by another professional staff member.
