The RN Pre-Op Documentation facilitates improvement of clinical documentation through concurrent interaction with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to support appropriate clini! cal severity capture and reporting.
Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs.
Serves as a clinical liaison to physicians and hospital representatives requesting surgical services
Facilitates communication of administrative and clinical data between the physician, surgical services, admissions and other needed ancillary departments
Participates in the assignment of appropriate level of care and placement of the day of surgery admit patient
Transcribes telephone orders, faxed orders, initiates pre printed orders
Qualifications
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
- Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) ver! ification course, as specified in policy
- Advanced Car! diac Life Support (ACLS) verification course, as specified in policy
- Successful completion of the Wesley Dysrhythmia exam within allotted timeframe, as specified in policy
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Bachelorâs of Science in Nursing
- Advanced clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes with a broad clinical experience in an inpatient setting
- Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documentation
- Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of age-specific needs and the elements of disease processes and related procedures
- Abilit! y to work independently in a time-oriented environment
- Assertice personality traits to facilitate ongoing physician communication
- Computer literacy and familiarity with the operation of basic office equipment
- Working knowledge of inpatient admission criteria
- Working knowledge of Medicare reimbursement system and coding structures preferred
- Working knowledge of core measures
