Job Title: : NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST Job Code : 23417Shift : 8 Hour Day Shift Employment Status : Full-Time Average Hours per W! eek : 40 Category : RadiologyJOB DESCRIPTION: Schedule: 6:00am- 2:30 pmPosition Summary: Performs diagnostic Radiology and/or Cardiology Nuclear Medicine procedures and prepares reports for physician interpretation. Handles radiopharmaceuticals in safe manner consistent with state and federal regulations.Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to perform all aspects of job requirements and to provide the care appropriate to all ages of patients served. Provides care in compliance with established department and medical center policies and procedures. Calculates radio - pharmaceutical doses.
Assures that materials contaminated with radionuclides are handled and disposed of in a safe and appropriate manner. Upholds radiation safety guidelines. Communicates patient care issues with physicians. Anticipates patient/family needs and assists with exceeding customer expectations in meeting needs.
Covers department call ! as scheduled. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs ! of patient. May perform other duties as assigned or requestedJOB REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Associate's degree (A.A.), or equivalent, from JRCERT approved college or technical school program; and one year experience nuclear medicine technology experience preferred.Behavioral Skills A personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Via Christi Health. Technical Skills Proficiency in Intravenous access and maintenance Working knowledge of basic computer systemsCertificates, Licenses, Registrations RT(R), or RT(R) (N), or CNMT Ba! sic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers offered by the American Heart Association or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer offered by the Red Cross within 30 days post date of hire.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate infection or other problems with a patient, or environmental issues such as smoke.Working Conditions: Occasionally exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, communicable diseases, etc.
