Contract Opportunity: 3-4 Months

As an e-commerce copywriter at Periscope, you’ll write and edit online retail product descriptions for items across a range of categories, including apparel, home goods, accessories, food and more. You might be right for the job if you have great attention to detail, the ability to put yourself in the audience’s shoes, and strong organizational and communication skills to juggle multiple tasks on tight deadlines. Successful candidates might seem like perfectionists, but they remain flexible in changing environments and show good judgment to solve problems they’ve never seen before. Our goal is always to make our clients and our internal teams look good by putting our best work forward. For this role, a love for fashion and online shopping will also serve you well!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Translate provided product details into a compelling, benefit-focused story that follows SEO best practices and helps drive sales
• Ensure all content that crosses your desk uses flawless grammar, adheres to client style guides and speaks to the right audience in an accessible, appealing way
• Balance focus on tiny details — like correct placement of every comma and apostrophe — with keeping overall brand and business goals in mind
• Collaborate seamlessly with your team to share knowledge, determine assignments, ensure consistency and meet deadlines
• Juggle multiple requests simultaneously through smart time management and strong organizational skills
• As part of a team of writer/editors, you may also proofread and copyedit other client content depending on skillset, interest and availability

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• You’re the go-to proofreader in your circle thanks to your stellar spelling and grammar skills
• You’re skilled at digesting information and picking out the most important highlights
• You’re a creative problem-solver who demonstrates excellent judgment and you’re cool under pressure
• You’re perceptive, flexible and confident — able to work well independently with minimal direction or collaboratively with a team
• You’re constantly looking for creative ways to solve problems and work smarter
• You’re proactive, fun and dedicated with a positive outlook, even when you have a high volume of work on tight deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1+ year of experience copy editing or copy writing in a professional environment
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and writing for web
• Familiarity with AP and Chicago style, and experience working with house style guides
• Proficiency with Mac OS-X, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
• Experience copy editing in an agency environment
• Experience with soft proofing systems and web-based work management tools
