Location: Wichita, Kansas

Position Summary:
A key member of the Rehab Services professional staff responsible for providing clinically competent evaluations and/or treatment programs for all assigned patients, residents and participants and for documenting care according to departmental standards. Represents Via Christi within the community.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Other duties may be assigned. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Demonstrates knowledge of injury, illness or disability of patient population served.

Demonstrates clinical competency and performance in the following:

evaluations, assessment tools and intervention programs;

equipment/modalities used in treatment;

documentation and charging according to d! epartmental standards;

meets productivity standards a! s set per clinical area.

Provides professional education to students, staff and the public.

May perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Duties Specific to VCV only:
Performs intake screenings as assigned and makes appropriate recommendations.

Complete resident/participant evaluation as indicated/requested and develops a plan of care.

Evaluation includes but is not limited to: functional status; physical status; ADL status; cognitive functioning; visual-perceptual status; feeding skills; cooking skills; bed mobility; wheelchair needs and home safety evaluations.

Provides treatment as indicated.

Develops, instructs and supervises other staff and/or family members on follow-through program to be carried out by individuals other than occupational therapist.

Participates in care plan development for participants on site, hospital, resident/participant home, assisted living, and in nu! rsing home, as needed.

Provides regular updates to team on participant status.

Assesses durable medical equipment needs for participants. Receives team approval prior to purchase of equipment. Orders and follow-up with DME purchases.

Train and supervise Restorative Aides on site, including all areas of performance consistent with departmental policies. Report to Therapy Director as needed.

Delegates plan of care to restorative aide when appropriate and in a timely manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in an approved Occupational Therapy program is required or graduating from an approved Occupational Therapy program within the next 6 months.

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. (VCV)

Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum 1 year experience working with geriatric population require! d. (VCV)

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer skills with specific abilities in word processing and\or spreadsheet applications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current state and/or national license, registration, or certification appropriate to professional credentials or eligible to sit for National Occupational Therapy Exam (NOTE)within the next 6 months at the time of employment application is required. Must have required Kansas license and/or national license, reg! istration, or certification appropriate to professional credentials by ! date of hire.

CPR certification required within 60 days of employment.

VCH-P: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers offered by the American Heart Association or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer offered by the Red Cross received within 30 days from date of hire.

Maintain current Occupational Therapist license with state of Kansas. (VCV)

Position Scope/Patient Population:
Ages of patient population are dependent upon the work setting, but could include Newborn/Infant (0-2), Pediatric (2-12), Adolescent (13-18), Adult (19-64), and Geriatric (65 and older). Patient care provided should be within scope of practice.
