Position Summary: Performs radiologic procedures according to established protocols or physician's special instructions.
Transports patients as needed. Areas of skill: general Diagnostic Radiology including surgery, portables, ER/trauma, special procedures and mammography as assigned. Provides for the physical and psychological needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients during the procedure. This position is for a new graduate or an ARRT employee who hasnt had a Kansas state license with pr! evious employer.
Must have applied for a state licens! e either temporary or permanent (if employee already has ARRT) and is waiting for that license to be granted. Must have registered and licensed technologist sign off on all work by documenting exam completion in the medical record. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Performs radiologic procedures accurately and efficiently. Demonstrates competency in procedures and equipment operation.
Provides age-appropriate patient care before, during and after exam. Assist with staff training and in-services as requested. Maintains accurate records. Performs clerical duties as assigned.
Administers IV and oral contrast media according to procedure. Participates with performance improvement activities and problem solving. Promotes good customer relations (patient, physician, guest, etc). Assists with cost containment efforts.
Assists with State, TJC and any other regulatory/accrediting agencies to insure departmental compliance. Communicates effectively ! with staff, physicians, patients and management. May perform other duties as assigned or requested Management Responsibilities: This position has no management responsibilities. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Associate's degree (A.
A.) or equivalent from JRCERT approved college or technical school program. Technical Skills Working knowledge of basic computer systems Certificates, Licenses, Registrations ARRT Registry eligible Radio! graphy. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers offered by th! e American Heart Association or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer offered by the Red Cross within 30 days post date of hire. Frequently able to use near vision for viewing computer monitor and written materials. Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate environmental issues. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of radiation. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Position Scope/Patient Population: Perform inpatient and outpatient exams in the Imaging Services department on a patient population that ranges from ambulatory to critical and newborn to geriatric. Provides care consistent with Medical Centerpolicies and procedures to patients in the Radiology department.
