Positions and prepares patients for exams according to the type of procedure to be performedAssesses patients throughout procedures and responds to patient needs as appropriateCompletes appropriate documentation for each study performed, including all computer and PACS functionsObserves safety regulations and aseptic practice techniques to protect patients and staffDemonstrates knowledge of universal protocols, and uses professional judgment and critical thinking skills when performing proceduresAssists with orientation and training of new staff and instructs students during their clinical rotationsPerforms sonograms including Ob/Gyn, abdominal, cerebral, vascular, pediatrics, small part scans, and other necessary studiesParticipates in the improvement of operational functions of the departmentMonitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care and practices identifying opportunities for improvement through collaborationCall and weekends required. Holidays rotateRequired Registration, Licensure or CertificationCurrent registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical SonographersCurrent registry as a Registered Vascular TechnologistCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policyValid Driver’s LicensePreferred Registration, Licensure or CertificationMultiple registriesRequired Education or ExperienceGraduate from an accredited school of Medical SonographyPreferred Education or ExperienceOne year of experience in an Imaging departmentRequired Knowledge and SkillsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectivelyComputer skills
