This job is responsible for performing radiological exams at a technical level in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements. Assumes responsibility for the safe, efficient and proper operation of radiological equipment.
Essential Functions:
Performs quality diagnostic readigraphy in a multi-speciality clinic, including (but not limited to)orthopedics, occupational medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice and surgery
Operates equipment with competency and proficiency, applying their kowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process while positioning patients properly to obtain optimal images for diagnosis by the ordering physician or radiologist.
Must be able to closely follow physician order/instructions, prepare radiography equipment to obtain proper density, contrast, and detail for area being imaged.
Takes preventative steps to avoid unecassary exposure to radiotion, utilizing techniques, procedure, equipment and accessories to protect the patient, self, and others.
Effective patient communication for preparation of examination to include verification of patient identification, patient history, and explanation of procedure and process.
Delivers appropriate patient care to all age groups, including basic nursing functions, response to emergency situationsconsistent with scope of authority, advises nursing unit or attending physician of significant change in patient's condition while in the Imaging department.
Participate in training Radiological Technology students during clinical rotations.
Performs general office duties to include answering phones scheduling, and maintaining patient records.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology
Experience:
One year of recent related work experience. Work experience involving the current technical aspects of patient care in a radiology department is preferred.
License/Certification:
American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required.
State Certification.
Current CPR certification.
